Sheet music has remained essentially unchanged since the 16th century, which got me thinking - how could I create an innovative digital experience for the modern world of music?
To help break musicians free from the five-line grid, I created an application called opus. Opus listens to you play music, transposes it, and allows you to manipulate it to suit your specific musical style. You can notate your sheet music with colors, words, or images - whatever helps you understand the music best.
The creations from opus could be as simple as a traditional sheet of music with colorful markups, or a piece of artwork composed entirely of images. The point is that the sheet music should reflect the way you see and hear the music, not restrict it.
